Itinerary

Day 1 - Calais to Evreaux

speed 180 Miles

The group will assemble outside the EuroTunnel Terminal main building in Folkestone. You will be met by your tour guide and will be given a quick briefing before making our way to the train.

Off the train we head straight onto the coast road down through Boulogue and our first coffee stop of the day. We carry on down the coast road before heading inland for lunch in Lyon la Foret - acknowledged as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Nice cafes in the well preserved market square. The final run to the overnight stop is through the quiet countryside of the Vexin Region.

Calais to Evreaux highlight

Day 2 - Evreux to Chateauroux

speed 180 Miles

Today we head south all day, rolling hill, fragrant forest and sweeping smooth tarmac are the order of the day. We stop for lunch in Blois on the banks of the Loire river with tree lined avenues and great views of the beautiful Jacques-Gabreil bridge. After lunch its out into the stunning French countryside again for faster flowing riding down to our overnight stop in Chateauroux town centre.

Day 3 - Chateauroux to Rodez

speed 240 Miles

Today the route twist through the deserted hills and valleys of the Limousin and Dordogne heading south. Its a full day of stunning riding on the fantastic smooth black top, it takes some beating.

Day 4 - Rodez to nimes

speed 170 Miles

Millau Bridge and the Tarn Gorges today so its a bit special. A fabulous days riding through the Tarn and Cevennes regions to the edge of Provence with time off the bike to enjoy the Millau Bridge which is the tallest suspension bridge in the world (1132ft) - taller than the Eiffel Tower. Then its straight into the Gorges du Tarn, 15 miles long and 1300ft deep and is scaled by roads with panoramic views and breath taking bends. We then travel through the Parc National des Cevennes onto our over night stop in Nimes with time to explore the Roman Arena in the centre of town, 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Day 5 - Nimes to La Pouzin

Today its just more of the same fabulous, quiet roads through the Cevennes and Tarn, before heading into the Ardeche and the banks of the Rhone for our overnight stay. We head north up through Uzes to pick up the fantastic Gorges de l'Ardeche, following the river all the way to the bridge at Balazuc. Then its into the Parc Naturel Regional des Monts d'Ardeche for more sweeping fun on the way to the banks of the Rhone and our hotel for the night.

Day 6 - La Pouzin to Roanne

speed 180 Miles

Heading north today from the Ardeche into the Auvergne, then into Burgundy at the end of the day. This is a day of relentless twisty roads, smooth blacktop, sweeping bends that just flow effortlessly as only the French can do.

Day 7 - Roanne to Troyes

speed 190 Miles

Today we head north from Burgundy across the Parc Naturel regional du Morvan, with its green rolling meadows, tree lined roads and beautiful forests. Its the last night on tour so we take a ten min walk into the old town for a great night out.

Day 8 - Troyes to Calais

speed 245 Miles

After a great last night of the tour we head north to Calais across the Champagne region, up through Soissons to join the motorway at Saint Quentin for the last 1.5 hrs run to the tunnel to catch our late afternoon crossing.
