Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Christchurch


Today is preparation day. We will meet in Christchurch, transfer across town to collect the bikes. Returning to the hotel ready for the 1st night welcome meal and a few drinks in beautiful central Christchurch

Day 2 - CHC to Cheviot


Leaving Christchurch today we are heading out to the French Colonial town of Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula for a coffee with a view. Lunch is taken in Lyttleton Harbour before we travel up the East Coast visiting the amazing Cathedral Cliffs and Gore Bay.

Day 3 - Cheviot to Nelson


Today we ride the East Coast Road. Famous for its amazing vistas of the coastline. You will not be disappointed. Lunch will be in Kaikoura, then up through to Blenheim, and across to Nelson. We will be stopping along the way to take stock of the mile after mile beautiful beaches, and possibly a dip in the sea.

Day 4 - Nelson Rest Day or Ride out


There is a ride out option today for those that just cant get enough. We will be heading from nelson through the Abel Tasman National Park all the way to Collingwood in Golden Bay.

Alternatively you are welcome to explore the delights of Nelson, stroll along the beach or visit the many local arts and craft stores and galleries.

Day 5 - Nelson to Greymouth


We head over to the West Coast today via Lake Rototti, Upper Buller Gorge leading into the Lower Buller Gorge. We ride through 7 Scenic Reserves today so its a stunning ride. Finishing off with a visit to the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki

Day 6 - Greymouth to Tekapo


We head East inland towards Christchurch today along the famous Arthurs Pass, a 240km stretch of road that will take us through the Southern Alps, past stunning rivers and through some quirky towns. From here we follow the Inland Scenic Route through Mount Hutt to Geraldine and onto the breath-taking Lake Tekapo, (possibly stopping in Farlie for the best pies on the whole Island) for the night. You have plenty to keep you entertained this evening with such options as Star Gazing, Hot Pools, stroll around the lake, or just wining and dining in the local restaurants.

Day 7 - Tekapo to Queenstown


We start the day riding up the West shore of Lake Pukaki all the way up to Mount Cook. At 3754m, many groups of climbers train on Mount Cook before attempting to reach the summitt of Everest. Refreshments will be taken in the shadows and a visit to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre is recommended.

We ride to Wanaka which is just one cool place to visit. Next its a stunning ride to Arrowtown which is one of the most picturesque settlements in New Zealand. We finish this amazing day in Queenstown, the adrenaline junkie capital of New Zealand.

Tekapo to Queenstown highlight

Day 8 - Queenstown Rest Day/Ride Out


We have a little ride out for the 2.5hours today up the East shore line of Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy, and later you can explore the delights of Queenstown. Bungee jumping off Kawarau Gorge suspension bridge or jet boating on the Shotover River which is a personal favourite, always a must for me is a FergBurger.

Day 9 - Queenstown to Milford Sound


Early start today as we are riding through the Fiordland National Park to Milford Sound and a stunning 2 hour cruise down the Sound. An amazing day all round. Stunning lake and mountain ride into Milford Sound.

Day 10 - Milford Sound to Balclutha


Its Burt Munro Day today as we ride down to Invercargill where we will visit E. Hayes + Son Store which is a hardware store that has Burts bike on show. We will also visit the classic Motorcycle Mecca around the corner which has a large display of bikes and racing cars. Once out of town we ride the Catlins around the south coast and up towards Dunedin.

Day 11 - Balclutha to Haast


We start the day riding to Lawrence and Roxburgh heading up to beautiful Cromwell. From here we move on through Wanaka in to the Mount Aspiring National Park before reaching the stunning West Coast.

Day 12 - Haast to Kumara


We ride the wild West Coast road today. Past two glaciers, Fox and Fran Josef, 6 lakes, 2 National Parks and 6 scenic Parks all with the Tasman Sea on the left before we head inland on the great Alpine way. What a day.

Day 13 - West Coast to Christchurch


We return to Christchurch via Arthurs Pass once again, drop off the bikes at the hire company and back to Christchurch for our farewell meal.
