What's Not Included
Day 1 - Calais to Nancy
Meeting point – Folkestone, Kent. Outside the EuroTunnel, motorcycle parking area.
Our motorcycle tour starts with a train journey, following a quick briefing before we arrive in France. Finally we are on our way, the first 80 miles are straight up the motorway to the standard coffee/breakfast stop. After lunch we take the twisty French Route National roads across the Ardennes Region of Northern France. Long straights, into sweeping bends, up hill down dales and all the while just great motorcycling roads. A great way to ease into a fantastic motorcycle tour.
Day 2 - Nancy to Lake Konstanz
Following a hearty breakfast, we head for the spa town of Baden Baden, just over the Rhine River, and into the Black Forest. Taking the bucket list B500 with its freshly resurfaced fast sweeping bends, a must for any motorcyclist. Its not just the fantastic road, sweeping hairpins but the views across the Black Forest that make this a brilliant first days riding.
After a visit to the Rhine Fall, the largest plane waterfall in Europe, and we will make our way to our hotel for the night.
Day 3 - Lake Konstanz to Bolzano
Day three is all about mountain passes and awesome views and hence roads any biker would love to get their wheels on.
On leaving the hotel we ride the south banks of the Bodensee Obersee before heading south over the Wolfgang Pass to the Davos, followed by the Fluela Pass, which is one of my personal favourites.
The famous Stelvio, at around 2700 metres it’s the second highest pass in the Alps. It is not just the 50 hairpins that will test your nerve and your skill, but even more, the vistas will blow your mind. Lunch is taken at the summit, after our short stop we ride the stunning route down to Bormio, onto the Gavia Pass. Known for the amazing vista this pass will test your riding skills, with no crash barriers on some of the higher parts of the pass you need to definitely have your wits about you.
The thrills are not quite over for the day though, from here we head over the Tonale Pass and finally concluding the day with the Mendel Pass before gliding into Bolzano, our stop for the evening.
Day 4 - Bolzano to Trieste
Firstly we will be heading east through the Dolomite Mountains, home to some of the most stunning scenery. Its not long however, before we are at our first mountain pass, Costalunga Pass, followed by Pordol Pass and Falzarego Pass. Stopping in the famous Cortina D'Ampezzo for a bite of lunch, we then make our way south to our hotel for the night in the gulf of Trieste.
Day 5 - Trieste to Plitvice
Day five is a relatively short day as we head past Postojna Caves (optional Stop) to the Croatian border and on to Plitvicka, following checking in you have the rest of the day to relax or head off and explore your surroundings. The Plitvice Lakes National Park holds a spectacular array of waterfalls, lakes, forests and a diversity of animals, well worth a consideration.
Day 6 - Plitvice Lakes Rest Day
A well-deserved day of rest from the bikes and a chance to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site at Plitvice.
Day 7 - Plitvice to Trogir
Is all about the Dalmatian Coast road. This stretch of historic coastline is one of the most unspoiled in the world, with 79 islands and about 500 islets that run parallel to the coast and an abundance of roman ruins and medieval towns. But the real highlight of the day are the roads. Tonight, we stay on one of these islands overlooking Split on the other side of the bay.
Day 8 - Trogir to Dubrovnik
Leaving Trogir we head around the bay, through Split and on down the Dalmatian Coast road with the smooth tarmac and every twist and turn you could imagine. Not only do you have fabulous riding you have great coastline views.
Day 9 - Dubrovnik Day of Rest
Every good holiday has a day spent exploring so a day off the bikes to explore the UNESCO World Heritage City of Dubrovnik. It’s a well preserved example of the late medieval city fortified with a magnificent curtain of walls surrounding its marble streets. Or you can just enjoy a lazy day enjoying the beech front hotel and swimming in either the pool or the sea whichever takes your fancy.
Day 10 - Dubrovnik to Trogir
Crossing the border into Bosnia and head north to Mostar, here we will stop at one of the most symbolic features of the Balkans, Mostar Bridge. The 400-year-old bridge was brought down by a bomb in 1993 during the war, it has since been rebuilt and today Mostar is a vibrant cobbled street town full of quaint shops. After Mostar, we head back to Croatia up to Split.
Day 11 - Trogir to Grado
Following a swim in the sea and a fantastic evening of great food and drink, we awake today ready to ride back up the Dalmatian Coast Road. We cross into Slovenia, ride the Gulf of Trieste Coast Road in Italy to our hotel for the night on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Only questions really, pool or sea?
Day 12 - Grado to Garmisch Partenkirchen
Leaving our shore front hotel we head north into the Veneto Region of Northern Italy. From here we go up through Cortina d’Amprezzo in the heart of the Southern Italian Alps. Heading north through the Italian Alps into Austria (Innsbruck), then back into Germany and stopping over night in Garmisch – Partenkirchen. This is a German ski resort town in Bavaria , which lies near to the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak at 2962m.
Day 13 - Garmisch to Saint Die Des Vosges
Firstly we start the day riding around the Zugspitze and back into the Austrian Tyrol. Once back into Germany we ride the north banks of the Obersee Bodensee before heading west to Freiburg. Concluding the day with a little visit back into France and riding through the fabulous Route des Cretes in the Vosges Region to our hotel for the night. Nothing like a cool drink and chat on the sun drenched patio.
Day 14 - Vosges to Calais
Sadly, it is time to head home through the Champagne Region of Epernay. Perhaps a little visit to the Grand Prix Circuit at Gueux near Reims followed by a quick blast up the motorway to Calais.
With FMT you get exactly that FREEDOM! Freedom to enjoy yourself not having to worry about routes, destinations, hotels etc. Its all well planned in a professional but relaxed manner so you can just enjoy the ride and chill out at night and enjoy your holiday.
